Last night I was entranced by another powerful performance by the Barebones Project. To sympathetically portray menace and raw human need juxtaposed with wary restraint can’t be easy, and it was only later that I realised how much tension the whole audience had felt, in that we almost welcomed Gary’s hand wound, just to bring us back to a sense of equilibrium.
Tessa loved it too, and I noted that twice on the return journey she said she wanted to see more of your work; kinda says it all.
I still find it incredible that there is such thought provoking brilliant theatre right on my doorstep. Thank You

I really wasn’t sure about Festen, but was right to listen to Charlotte and trust you. The play is exquisitely crafted, and your sensitive production drew out each strand of human response into the brightest light, with actors who completely became their characters. I don’t know if my reaction was typical, but from pinching myself so I wouldn’t cry in public, wanting to protectively leap between the child and the foul bully, anger at gross prejudice, admiration for the courage of the frail – I could go on - that was quite a gamut of emotions to be put through in one evening. It was no surprise tickets sold out so quickly, even with the longer run; all who come to see a Barebones production will come again and again. I would be quite in awe of you, but you ruined it by giving me a hug.
